Hot 97 DJ: "Haitian Women Have HIV" + Suspended Indefinitely

I have been trying to refrain from putting up this Post because I didn't want to fuel this ignorance, BUT alas. Hot 97 radio DJ Cipha Sounds has been suspended indefinitely for making some VERY disparaging remarks about Haitian women, saying all of them have HIV. YEP, Dancers...I'm not making this stuff up!!!

Wednesday morning mediaQUICKY learned that Hot 97 bosses suspended DJ Cipha Sounds INDEFINITELY after dozens of Haitian community leaders stepped up their calls for his resignation. Initially radio station execs defended DJ Cipha after he said “The Reason I’m H.I.V Negative Is Because I don’t Mess With Haitian Girls” during a live broadcast.

Earlier this week, Alexandra Cameron, SVP Market Manager for the station says, “He will not be fired, he’s a young man who made a mistake, does not have a track record of any malice and we are handling this as an internal matter.” Haitian-Americans said an apology was not enough after the DJ’s shocking on-air comment about Haitian women. Friday Morning Show host CIPHA SOUNDS whose real name is Luis Diaz, says “The Reason I’m H.I.V Negative Is Because I don’t Mess With Haitian Girls.” The morning host later apologized on his twitter page and youtube but the apology isn’t enough for a group of Haitian community leaders who plan to rally outside of the Hot 97 headquarters on Hudson Street tomorrow morning.

I don't even have the typing energy to give my remarks about this IGNORANCE! But I will say that he definitely needs to be fired!!! Sometimes people don't understand how words can truly cut deep (I too am guilty of this). But to make remarks like this about people who have constantly been faced with adversity is beyond me.
