Rap mogul DAMON DASH is resurrecting the iconic Roc-A-Fella Records after acquiring the brand name he established with former pal Jay-ZFor some reason, I just want them to squash this so-called beef! Just DEAD the shyt, and make $$$ together again. Is it THAT deep? I wonder how Jay feels about this?from label bosses at Def Jam. Roc-A-Fella Records co-founders Dash, Jay-Z and Kareem 'Biggs' Burke parted ways in 2004 after a number of disagreements. The 99 Problems hitmaker took control of the established rap label and later went on to become president of Def Jam while Dash and Burke formed their own imprint, DDMG (Damon Dash Music Group). Jay-Z resigned from his post at Def Jam in 2008 and Dash is claiming back the company name, insisting the rapper gave up his "right" to the brand when he stepped down from his label job. He tells MTV, "Def Jam or Universal bought the brand. I think the 'beef' (feud) (with Jay-Z) was that Jay made it clear he didn't want me or Biggs to be a part of it. That's really where it was at. Now that he doesn't work for Def Jam anymore, he doesn't have the right to use the name. So there's no reason for us not to use it. It's there, and it's a brand that's not being used. So I was like, 'I'll take it.' It always meant something to me." Dash is now set to relaunch Roc-A-Fella as a new music imprint with the first release from rising rapper Curren$y. He says, "It's a way more positive movement. It's what I wanted Roc-A-Fella, what I thought it should be, 10 years after I started it." Curren$y's Pilot Talk is scheduled for release in June (10).
It's just the "Zen" in me I guess....I want everyone to get along!
