USC Is "Sending Back" Reggie Bush's Heisman Trophy!

That SUCKS!!!

There has been SERIOUS hoopla over the last few weeks about the drama that has been going on at USC (University of Southern California) and it's athletic department.

For those that aren't aware (in a nutshell), the president-elect of the USC, C.L. Max Nikias, will be installing somewhat of a  new culture of compliance, starting with hiring a new Athletic Director Pat Haden (their former AD for the past 17 years, Mike Garrett, was let go for having a "lack of institutional control over its sports programs.").

In other words, for years, Garrett wasn't in compliance with NCAA rules of forbidding players of engaging in "possible bribes", "lavish gifts", etc.

More info under the break......
Now, USC is making a harsh decision sending out a memo to the "USC Trojan Family" disclosing a persona non grata attitude toward two superstars whose time on campus helped lead to NCAA sanctions, O.J. Mayo and Reggie Bush. In particular Reggie:
The Trojan family honors and respects the USC sporting careers of those persons whose actions did not compromise their athletic program or the opportunities of future USC student-athletes. Accordingly, I have instructed the senior vice president for administration to remove athletic jerseys and murals displayed in recognition of O.J. Mayo and Reggie Bush by mid-August -- before the incoming class of students moves on campus -- from Heritage Hall, the Galen Center and the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum. The university also will return Mr. Bush's 2005 Heisman Trophy to the Heisman Trophy Trust in August.
I don't know about yall, but I think this is some BULLSHYT!!!

Unfortunately (and I'm not saying it's right), this happens EVERYDAY in college and professional sports - so, please don't believe that for one second that this type of action will curb it!

There all all sorts of allegations being tossed around about the lavish gifts and money that Reggie and his family received while playing at USC, but what in the HELL does this have to do with sending back his Heisman?!?!?!? He earned that, right?

I was reading an article on this story over the internet, and this line pretty much sums up my opinion about the whole thing: And who would have thought the day would come when USC ships back Reggie's Heisman but keeps the one won by O.J. Simpson on display.
