$130K!!!!!!!!! WOWZERS! For a DAMN hat?! I guess....
The bow/pretzel-shaped hat or "fascinator" (designed by Philip Treacy) worn by Princess Beatrice at her cousin's April 29 wedding to Kate Middleton went for major bucks -- er, pounds -- in an EBay auction that ended on Sunday. An anonymous winning bidder snagged the history piece of millinery for a staggering 81,100.01 pounds, or about $130,000 in U.S. currency. The jaw-dropping purchase was for a good cause, of course: All the money raised from the 10-day auction will be donated to UNICEF UK and Children in Crisis through the 22-year-old royal's Little Bee Initiative. "It has its own personality, and I am so happy that we have raised the most incredible amount of money and can make an even bigger change for the lives of some of the most vulnerable children across the world," Beatrice (daughter of Prince Andrew and Duchess Sarah Ferguson) said in a statement Sunday.Source
