When Mariska Hargitay welcomed her daughter Amaya Josephine six months ago, she started thinking about adopting another child down the line. She never imagined the new addition would be right around the corner. Within a week of processing their paperwork for the second time, Hargitay, 47, and her husband Peter Hermann brought home a son, Andrew Nicolas Hargitay Hermann, who was born over the summer. “We never in a million years thought it would happen this quickly, but something inside of us knew that this was right, and we said, ‘Yes, yes, yes!’” says Hargitay, who is also mom to son August, 5. “We knew this was our guy. Everything about it felt right. It felt divinely right.” Two babies may be a handful, but the Law & Order: SVU actress — who will continue working four days a week — says Andrew and Amaya have already bonded. “They’ll lie in the crib together, and she’ll hold his hand and put her arm around him,” says Hargitay. “She’s already so protective of him.”*tear*
Viola Davis and her husband, actor Julius Tennon, are in the process of adopting a child, the couple tells E! News. Speaking from the red carpet at the Los Angeles premiere of her new movie, The Help, Davis, 45, confirmed: "Yes, we're about to adopt a baby." Davis said she and Tennon are planning to adopt "domestically," but did not elaborate. This will be the first child together for the couple, who have been married since 2003. Tennon has two children from previous relationships.Congrats to Viola!
Amy Winehouse had a lot to live for before her tragic death at age 27 on July 23 -- including, reportedly, a child to call her own. Despite her troubled reputation and struggles with substance abuse, the "Rehab" singer was secretly in the process of adopting a little girl from the Caribbean island of St. Lucia. "Amy was already my mother," Dannika Augustine, 10, told British paper The Daily Mirror. Winehouse met little Dannika during a 2009 trip to St. Lucia, and strived to rescue her from a life of poverty. "I would call her Mum," Dannika said, "And she would call me her daughter. She took care of me, and we had fun together. I loved her, and she loved me." Although aware of Winehouse's addiction to drugs and alcohol, Dannika's family supported the multi-platinum selling star's move to adopt the little girl and eventually bring her to London -- and "has been crying" since her death two weekends ago, a family member told the New York Post. "Amy loved Dannika with all her heart," Dannika's grandmother Marjorie Lambert told the Mirror. "I don't know why Amy took to Dannika above all the other children on the island, but from the moment they met, they were inseparable. They would spend all day playing, horse-riding and walking up and down the beach hand in hand." Dannika's parents Nadia Germaine and Vid Augustine (who lives in Germany) also approved of Winehouse's adoption plans. "I thanked Amy for taking care of my daughter, and she said, 'Dannika is taking care of me. I couldn't live without her,' " Vid Augustine said. "I knew [Winehouse] could give my daughter a wonderful life."WOW! That is heavy stuff. But if I can be completely honest? We all know that Amy wasn't in the best shape to take care of a child. But I'm sure that this little girl was a highlight of the troubled singer's life.
Mariska Hargitay has a big surprise to share. The Law & Order: SVU star and her husband, actor Peter Hermann, have adopted a baby girl, she tells PEOPLE exclusively. Baby Amaya Josephine was born about a week ago and is from the United States. "I'm deliriously happy," Hargitay, 47, tells PEOPLE. "From the minute she was born, she was just surprisingly alert and so full of love. We were considering both international and domestic adoption and we're thrilled that this is the way our prayers were answered. We talked a lot about mixed-race adoptions, and we are very excited that we are now a multi-racial family. We're just so happy she's here." And there's one family member who's more excited than anyone: Hargitay's 4-year-old son, August. "He is over the moon," says the actress. "He calls her his baby because he says the whole thing was his idea. He always talks about how he's going to protect her. He's going to be a great big brother."This is wonderful! Yall know Flash LOVES THE KIDS...they are a blessing!
"Yes, I have filed for divorce. I'm sad and I am scared."
