There is an online petition floating around that is asking PBS and the creators of Sesame Street "to allow [Bert and Ernie] to live as a gay couple and maybe eventually, marry."
According to the petition posted to Change.org and promoted on Facebook, if the beloved characters were to disclose the true nature of their relationship, it “would show children and their parents that not only is it acceptable but also teach children that homophobia is wrong, bullying is wrong and that Sesame Street should recognize that there are LGBT relationships, families, and include them in their show.”I am all for it! And of course, I've signed the petition! If you're in agreement, CLICK HERE to sign! If not, maybe you'll get on board one day....
The petition, created by Lair Scott, Shane Cowart, Alex Maggs, and Mark Szabo, had more than 250 signatures by Wednesday morning.
EQUALITY FOR ALL! Even if they happen to be puppets LOL.
I'm sure if this does happen, a lot of parents would not allow their children to watch Sesame Street.
ReplyDelete^^^^ To piggy back off my comment..I have no issue with this going through...but when I was a kid..I honestly never even knew what "gay" was. And I grew up loving all and never discriminating against race, sexuality or religion.
