Katherine Schwarzenegger Opens Up About Her Parent's Split

Eldest child to Maria Shriver and Arnold Schwarzenegger, Katherine Schwarzenegger sat down with Harper's Bazaar magazine to discuss her parent's highly publicized split and possibly changing her famous last name:

"I thought of changing it because, especially for dating, it's impossible. It's something I deal with every day, and I am hyperconscious about it. It's like, 'Do you want to date my father, or do you want to date me? Like, I can arrange that for you."

She also speaks about the close relationship she has with both of her parents, especially her mother:

“I talk to my mom about six times a day, and we constantly e-mail in between that. People say that I'm her twin. I guess it would be the Kennedy genes; my cheekbones are coming out. We'll be at the breakfast table and my mom will look over at me and say, 'I see them!'"


"I've always been way closer to my mom," she added. “Even when I was little, I was glued to her all the time. I'm close to my dad, but they're totally different kinds of relationships.” As for her father, Katie continued on with a laugh and a slight imitation of Arnold’s infamous accent, saying, "My dad literally was reading this book and was like, 'I don't know any of this stuff. It explains a lot about why you were so moody sometimes, but I don't understand all this stuff about women.'"

When it was revealed that Arnold Schwarzenegger had a 13-year-old child with a trusted member of the family’s domestic staff, the world let out a collective gasp. The mother, housekeeper Mildred Baena, has since been in hiding. But with fictitious stories circulating in the media, she has decided to set the record straight, and is giving what will be her first and only interview exclusively to HELLO! magazine. She is joined by the other protagonist in this distressing drama, son Joseph, who has dealt with the events of the past few weeks with a maturity way beyond his years. When his grandmother sat him down one year ago to explain that Arnold Schwarzenegger was his father, he exclaimed: “Cool!”. And his mother said the young boy is looking forward to building a relationship with the former Hollywood star. Guatelaman-born Mildred revealed that she realised the truth once her son started to resemble the former Governor of California. “It was as Joseph grew and I started to see the resemblance that I wondered – but It became more apparent as time went on,” she said. “I knew Arnold was the father, and maybe as Joseph got older and began to look like him, he [Arnold] wondered. But he never said anything to me.” She also revealed that Marie Shriver, Arnold’s now ex-wife, had started to put two and two together when she heard whispers in the household about the pair's similarity. “She would say things like, “I’m here if you need to talk.” I sensed something was up. I have so much love and respect for Maria. “Finally, she asked point blank.” But it was Maria’s actions that shocked Mildred. “She was so strong. She cried with me and told me to get off my knees. We held each other and I told her it wasn’t Arnie’s fault, that it takes two.” Finally, she expressed her sympathy for Arnold and what he must be going through: “He’s a good man and I know he’s suffering too. He loves Maria. I hope with time they work things out.”

Arnold Schwarzenegger was spotted earlier today with his sons Patrick, 17, and Christopher, 13, at a Umami Burger in Santa Monica, California.

Many folks speculated that Arnold's kids were upset with him so much so, that they weren't even speaking to their father (I wouldn't blame them), but clearly that is not the case. 

When it's all said and done, this is their father and they love him very much, regardless of the HORRIBLE MISTAKE that he has made. Ummmmm hmmmmmm.

Amid the fallout of his split from wife Maria Shriver and the news that he fathered a child out of wedlock, Arnold Schwarzenegger has ceased all acting projects, including his anticipated return to the Terminator franchise. "At the request of Arnold Schwarzenegger we asked Creative Artists Agency to inform all his motion picture projects currently underway or being negotiated to stop planning until further notice," Patrick Knapp, entertainment counsel to Schwarzenegger and a partner at Bloom, Hergott, Diemer, Rosenthal, LaViolette, Feldman Schenkman & Goodman said Thursday. "Governor Schwarzenegger is focusing on personal matters and is not willing to commit to any production schedules or timelines," the statement from Knapp continues. "This includes Cry Macho, The Terminator franchise and other projects under consideration. We will resume discussions when Governor Schwarzenegger decides." As for how Schwarzenegger is doing in the wake of the scandal, a source close to him tells PEOPLE, "He feels very bad about the situation. [He is] fully prepared to do whatever he needs to do to rebuild [his family's] trust."

First and foremost, it is being reported that Maria has now hired prominent LA-based divorce attorney Laura Wasser. She also handled the Britney Spears/Kevin Federline divorce. A source told People magazine: "Maria hasn't decided yet if she wants to end her marriage." 

Look! If she hired her, we might be having a divorce on our hands! And honestly, rightfully so.....

TMZ has obtained lots of information -- as well as photos -- of the boy Arnold Schwarzenegger fathered out of wedlock -- and he looks shockingly like Arnold himself. The mother -- Mildred Patricia Baena (50 - she goes by Patty) -- was a housekeeper/assistant for the family for more than 20 years. Her jobs included cleaning, laundry, cooking and other chores. Sources tell TMZ -- in the late '90s Patty began to "pursue Arnold."  She told friends they would have unprotected sex during the day at the house.  Patty never slept overnight at the house and no one ever caught them in the act. We're told when she became pregnant, she didn't tell Arnold he was the father. Arnold didn't learn he was the daddy until the boy was a toddler. Patty -- who made $1,200 a week -- was treated well by Arnold once he found out. Sources say Arnold was always "generous." Patty -- who has recently retired -- now lives in a 4 bedroom house with a pool, several hours outside of L.A. with the boy and her 3 other kids.

Actor and Former Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger has finally revealed the catalyst for the split with wife Maria Shriver after 25 years of marriage: he father a love-child 10 years ago with a longtime female member of their household staff. Although it happened 10 years ago, it is being reported Maria just found out about the news earlier this year.

It's no secret...we've all heard the constant rumors of Arnold's infidelities and rumored said love-child, but now he is confirming the news publicly!

Schwarzenegger and Shriver jointly announced May 9 that they were splitting up after 25 years of marriage. Yet, Shriver moved out of the family's Brentwood mansion earlier in the year after Schwarzenegger acknowledged the child is his, The Los Angeles Times reported Tuesday.

"After leaving the governor's office I told my wife about this event, which occurred over a decade ago," Schwarzenegger told the Times in a statement that also was sent to The Associated Press early Tuesday. "I understand and deserve the feelings of anger and disappointment among my friends and family. There are no excuses and I take full responsibility for the hurt I have caused. I have apologized to Maria, my children and my family. I am truly sorry.

"I ask that the media respect my wife and children through this extremely difficult time," the statement concluded. "While I deserve your attention and criticism, my family does not."

You damn sure do, buddy!!! SMH 

Information or photos of the woman who was involved in the affair or the child are not being released, but the woman worked for the family for 20 years and retired in January. 20 years? That's just DIRTY! WOW!


The child was born before Schwarzenegger began his seven-year stint in public office.

This is such a sad thing, but it happens EVERYDAY!!! What I don't understand is why keep it from your wife THIS LONG!? Disrespectful...to say the least.

"At this time, we are living apart, while we work on the future of our relationship," they continue. "We are continuing to parent our four children together. They are the light and the center of both of our lives."

I don't think many of us saw that coming! I mean, if they can't make it after 25-years, WHO CAN?!?!?! Alls I know is...if Will/Jada or Barack/Michelle split, I'm losing all faith in the institution of marriage! I'm sooooooo serious. Call it what you want.....
