It has been a great week for Lil Wayne, as his new album Tha Carter IV has shattered the record for iTunes downloads. The “Mrs. Officer” rapper sold 300,000 units in the first four days of release, beating out Kanye West and Jay-Z's record of 290,000 downloads for Watch the Throne. And that’s just the beginning- Wayne’s album is near 850,000 copies sold overall, making for the biggest first-week sales numbers since his 2008 release Tha Carter III. Factor in that some of his material was unknowingly leaked onto the internet ahead of time, and it looks like nothing can keep Weezy down!

Lupe Fiasco Lands #1 Album In The Country!

 

Congrats to rapper Lupe Fiasco! Despite having MAJOR issues with his record label about his new album Lasers, the Chicago native has landed the #1 album in the country selling 204K units!

Lupe Fiasco is beaming. The Chicago rapper has scored his first No. 1 album and best sales week yet with his third LP Lasers, which debuts atop the Billboard 200 chart. The “Show Goes On” MC managed to sell 204,000 copies in his first week, the most units throughout his career despite label drama and his indifference toward the populist record. His last album, The Cool, bowed at No. 15 with 143,000 in 2007, while his debut Food & Liquor entered at No. 8 with 81,000 sold the year prior. Elsewhere, Marsha Ambrosius slides from No. 2 to 8 with her debut Late Nights & Early Mornings, selling an additional 41,000 units. Justin Bieber also takes a hit with Never Say Never: The Remixes, which drops from No. 4 to 9 (40,000).

Coming in right behind her was R&B singer Fantasia's album Back To Me which sold a decent 122,000 plus copies.
